History tells us that the Soviet government, as it ruled Russia for over 60 years, did everything in its power to repress religion. And while it is almost universally agreed that this state-imposed attempt at national atheism epitomized all the wrongs of government oppression, few are aware of how unbiblically pathetic the state of religion was in Russia before the Communists took over that country. Show Yourself Friendly
Have you ever asked yourself “Do I show myself friendly?” Do I welcome a new person visiting Sabbath services or perhaps maybe they are visiting a Feast site for the first time? What do you think their first impression would be of you or the congregation as a whole? Are you just visiting with each other, talking about yourselves or do you welcome them and make them feel comfortable? Do you take them around and introduce them to as many people as you can in order to put them at ease? Do you make them feel like they are part of the Church of God family? Do you think they would say “I’ve made a mistake coming here” or would they say “This feels like home and I’m glad I came.” Will they want to come back? These are all good questions and something we should give some thought to when a new member or a Church of God member visits. Continue reading
No Fear Of God
On December 15th, 2012 I listened to the Special News Report that covered yet another tragedy in our Nation, the shooting of twenty children and six adults at an elementary school in Connecticut, I am reminded of God’s words “Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I will forget your children!” Even though this scripture is referring to the Priests of that time it also applies to us today as a reminder of what the consequences are of rejecting our Great God.
Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.
It seems like every time when tragedy strikes our Nations politicians start talking about gun control when they should really be talking about the moral issue of breaking God’s law, the sixth commandment which is in Exodus 20:13 You shall not murder. This is where the core of the problem lies not in gun control. Continue reading
Seven Irritating Things About “NOAH”
March 30, 2014
by Jeff Reed
I went to see the movie “Noah” last Friday. I have always liked the history of Noah and the ark. The true meaning is one that a Christian can identify with because we are in many ways like Noah. I have a Tom Dubois print of Noah’s Ark named “Celebration” hanging in my office. I chose this particular painting specifically because I wanted a realistic depiction of Noah’s Ark. I was tired of all the pictures that portrayed the event as a nursery school story or some type of fairytale. So it may be obvious why I would not like this movie. But to be honest, if I were not a Christian I would still not recommend this movie. It is an action adventure fantasy film that is pretty mediocre and full of movie clichés. Other than the special effects the movie is pretty bad. Continue reading
Does God Know All Christians?
By David Campbell

I was talking to our congregation after a sermon one Sabbath and the question came up “Does God accept all who claim to be Christians even though they may not know what He wants them to do?”
It was a good question and one that is often rationalized away by saying; “God knows my heart” and “God doesn’t hold me accountable if I don’t know.” While this last statement may hold some truth the first is certainly true! God does know your heart and He knows if you are playing Church or if you are really trying to follow the instructions that He inspired in the Holy Scriptures. Continue reading
Thy Kingdom Come

While trying to fall asleep last night I began thinking about the content of the Bible study that we would cover this Sabbath which had to do with the book of Revelation.
Reading that the world is warned because of its rebellion against God’s instructions and understanding that this is a time of death and destruction for a lot of mankind, I also had some thoughts come to mind that I had not linked together before. Continue reading
Esteeming Others Better Than Yourself
I was just thinking about all of the old quotes that get brought up from time to time. Sayings such as what we call the “Golden Rule” which says “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. Some how today that has been turned around to say, “The one with the Gold makes the rules” Not quite the same is it?
Actually what I was thinking about when I sat down to write this article was how so many people bicker back and forth among themselves today, even within the churches of God. No one seems to be able to get along for any length of time especially when it comes to things regarding ones personal understanding of religious topics, even to the point of people having to leave one Church group in search of other people who believe as they do. By Their Fruits

I have been asked this question more than a few times. “How do I find the true church of God?” Or the variation of the question is “How do I find the truth?” Sometimes I have to ask for clarification from the person asking one of these questions, what do you mean by “the truth” as many wouldn’t know it if they ran straight into it in broad daylight! Why is that? I’ll answer that question in just a minute.
There are groups around the world that will readily stand up and without hesitation state that they and they alone are the “True Church” or that they and they alone have the truth of God and that you need to come to them to get it. In fact they derive power from telling you what the Bible says. Does the scripture support such an attitude? Continue reading
