The Dietitian’s Biblical Food Laws

By: Lanora – Woman to Woman Blog –

Did you know that God created foods that are clean to eat? He also made those that are unclean that we shouldn’t eat. God created them for our good but for different purposes. I think of my God as my personal dietitian. He has shown me what meat I should eat and cook for my husband.

In 2003 my husband had open heart surgery and afterwards he had to go through a dietary class. When he was in the class the Dietitian asked him what meat he ate and they were surprised by his answer. They said “He ate better than most of their heart patients”. It wasn’t his diet that caused his problems it was genetics. About the only thing they can do is to give him medication that helps slow his heart rate and cholesterol medication which helps the plaque from sticking to the arteries. The Dietitian presented illustrations to the patients in the class what meat to eat and which ones not to eat. These are some they said not to eat.

The Dietitian showed the class four (4) vials of toxicity one from Lobster, Shrimp, Catfish and Pork in that order. Lobster was the worst for toxics followed by shrimp, catfish and then pork. The Dietitian said that they should not be eating those foods because of the toxicity in them which was not only bad for their health but very bad for the heart.

The lobster, shrimp and catfish are considered bottom feeders meaning they are to clean things up in the oceans, streams, rivers, ponds and lakes. Did you know that if there is mercury in a pond that you can put catfish in it to clean it? The catfish will retain the mercury in its body. That should tell you something. Pigs are known scavengers and were made by God to clean the scraps that are thrown out. Pigs were made as garbage disposals if I can say it that way.

According to Professor Hans-Heinrich Reckeweg, M.D of New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics he says that “Consumption of freshly killed pork products causes acute responses, such as inflammations of the appendix and gall bladder, biliary colic’s, acute intestinal catarrh, gastroenteritis with typhoid and paratyphoid symptoms, as well as acute eczema, carbuncles, sudoriparous abscesses, and others.” These symptoms can be observed after consuming sausage meats (including salami which contains pieces of bacon in the form of fat).

I remember one time as a kid running barefoot across my uncle’s hog lot. My uncle yelled at me to get my shoes on and later he told me not to ever do that again because hogs carry worms that can enter the feet through their feces. This is why they tell people to thoroughly cook pork because they carry worms. Yuk! If you’ve ever seen a hog lot the hogs will totally strip everything, not a blade of grass standing only dirt left. That sure taught me a lesson and I never forgot to wear my shoes again when I visited my Aunt and Uncle. So why would anyone want to eat those animals? Oh I know everyone loves their bacon. I’ve heard people say it’s the hardest food to give up when God calls them. God wants them to follow Him, His food laws and change. David and I never had that problem because we were raised never eating those things.

God is Our Dietitian

Fortunately, God has given us His laws of the clean and unclean for us to live by. He is the best Dietitian of all! What the Dietitian at the hospital was teaching was directly from the Bible only they didn’t know it. They were just going by scientific findings that aligned with God’s instructions. Imagine that! The meat we eat should totally line up with the Word of God in Leviticus 11. Some think that the food laws only applied to the children of Israel. Not so! Israel was to be an example to the world. Here are God’s instructions for ALL MANKIND about the clean and unclean.

Here’s a List of the Clean and Unclean foods (PDF) if you want to download it.

Clean Meats

Leviticus 11:1 – 3

1 Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying to them,

2 “Speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘These are the animals which you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth:

3 Among the animals, whatever divides the hoof, having cloven hooves and chewing the cud—that you may eat.

This would be animals like cows, deer, buffalo, sheep, goat etc.

Unclean Meats

Leviticus 11:4 – 8

4 Nevertheless these you shall not eat among those that chew the cud or those that have cloven hooves: the camel, because it chews the cud but does not have cloven hooves, is unclean to you;

5 the rock hyrax, because it chews the cud but does not have cloven hooves, is unclean to you;

6 the hare, because it chews the cud but does not have cloven hooves, is unclean to you;

7 and the swine, though it divides the hoof, having cloven hooves, yet does not chew the cud, is unclean to you.

8 Their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch. They are unclean to you.

Animals like pigs, camel, rabbits etc.

Clean Fish

Leviticus 11:9

9 ‘These you may eat of all that are in the water: whatever in the water has fins and scales, whether in the seas or in the rivers—that you may eat.

Fish like salmon, bass, crappie etc.

Unclean Fish and All that is in the Water, Seas and Rivers

Leviticus 11:10 – 12

10 But all in the seas or in the rivers that do not have fins and scales, all that move in the water or any living thing which is in the water, they are an abomination to you.

11 They shall be an abomination to you; you shall not eat their flesh, but you shall regard their carcasses as an abomination.

12 Whatever in the water does not have fins or scales—that shall be an abomination to you.

Fish like catfish, bullhead and Mammals like seals, swordfish, dolphins, whale etc.

Unclean Fowl

Leviticus 11: 13 – 19

13 ‘And these you shall regard as an abomination among the birds; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, the vulture, the buzzard,

14 the kite, and the falcon after its kind;

15 every raven after its kind,

16 the ostrich, the short-eared owl, the sea gull, and the hawk after its kind;

17 the little owl, the fisher owl, and the screech owl;

18 the white owl, the jackdaw, and the carrion vulture;

19 the stork, the heron after its kind, the hoopoe, and the bat.

Clean Insects

Leviticus 11: 21 – 22

21 Yet these you may eat of every flying insect that creeps on all fours: those which have jointed legs above their feet with which to leap on the earth.

22 These you may eat: the locust after its kind, the destroying locust after its kind, the cricket after its kind, and the grasshopper after its kind.

Unclean Insects

Leviticus 11:20 ‘All flying insects that creep on all fours shall be an abomination to you.

Leviticus 11:23 But all other flying insects which have four feet shall be an abomination to you.

Unclean Creeping Things

Leviticus 11:29 – 31

29 ‘These also shall be unclean to you among the creeping things that creep on the earth: the mole, the mouse, and the large lizard after its kind;

30 the gecko, the monitor lizard, the sand reptile, the sand lizard, and the chameleon.

31 These are unclean to you among all that creep. Whoever touches them when they are dead shall be unclean until evening.

Leviticus 11:41 – 42

41 ‘And every creeping thing that creeps on the earth shall be an abomination. It shall not be eaten.

42 Whatever crawls on its belly, whatever goes on all fours, or whatever has many feet among all creeping things that creep on the earth—these you shall not eat, for they are an abomination.

The Law of Animals and Birds and Every Living Creature

Leviticus11:46 – 47

46 ‘This is the law of the animals and the birds and every living creature that moves in the waters, and of every creature that creeps on the earth,

47 to distinguish between the unclean and the clean, and between the animal that may be eaten and the animal that may not be eaten.’

We both try our best to follow God’s instructions as God created food for our health and enjoyment so we can live a healthier life. I am very thankful that God has sustained my husband all these years in spite of his genetics.

If you are trying to improve your health ask God to give you a better understanding of His food laws. After all He created everything clean and unclean as each was made for their own purpose!
