Show Yourself Friendly

Friendly peopleBy:  Lanora Campbell

Have you ever asked yourself “Do I show myself friendly?”  Do I welcome a new person visiting Sabbath services or perhaps maybe they are visiting a Feast site for the first time?  What do you think their first impression would be of you or the congregation as a whole?  Are you just visiting with each other, talking about yourselves or do you welcome them and make them feel comfortable?  Do you take them around and introduce them to as many people as you can in order to put them at ease?  Do you make them feel like they are part of the Church of God family?  Do you think they would say “I’ve made a mistake coming here” or would they say “This feels like home and I’m glad I came.” Will they want to come back?  These are all good questions and something we should give some thought to when a new member or a Church of God member visits. No Fear Of God

Flag US Sm

On December 15th, 2012 I listened to the Special News Report that covered yet another tragedy in our Nation, the shooting of twenty children and six adults at an elementary school in Connecticut, I am reminded of God’s words “Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I will forget your children!”  Even though this scripture is referring to the Priests of that time it also applies to us today as a reminder of what the consequences are of rejecting our Great God.

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.

It seems like every time when tragedy strikes our Nations politicians start talking about gun control when they should really be talking about the moral issue of breaking God’s law, the sixth commandment which is in Exodus 20:13 You shall not murder.  This is where the core of the problem lies not in gun control. Seven Irritating Things About “NOAH”

March 30, 2014

by Jeff Reed

I went to see the movie “Noah” last Friday. I have always liked the history of Noah and the ark. The true meaning is one that a Christian can identify with because we are in many ways like Noah. I have a Tom Dubois print of Noah’s Ark named “Celebration” hanging in my office. I chose this particular painting specifically because I wanted a realistic depiction of Noah’s Ark. I was tired of all the pictures that portrayed the event as a nursery school story or some type of fairytale. So it may be obvious why I would not like this movie. But to be honest, if I were not a Christian I would still not recommend this movie. It is an action adventure fantasy film that is pretty mediocre and full of movie clichés. Other than the special effects the movie is pretty bad. Continue reading
