Sometimes life can figuratively knock the breath out of you. Trials can come in an avalanche rolling you down the hill that you were just about to conquer, leaving you breathless, stunned, hurt, and bewildered at the bottom on the ground covered with piles of “snow” on top of you preventing you from standing back up. I am rereading the Bible. It is fascinating how many times I have read Genesis, yet I always notice something “new.” I am realizing that the Word of God is a living thing because of the fact that I can learn something no matter how many times I may have read the same scriptures. I am thinking that maybe I notice “new” things when I reread because they are then applicable to my life at that moment. Continue reading

Greetings,
We just received an update on the IBEW Hall Remodel. The old ceiling tiles have been removed and hauled off. The painters are there now painting the ceiling grids. New Ceiling Tile has been ordered and is expected to come in tomorrow as well as new ceiling lights. Once the paint is dry they will put in the new ceiling lights and the new ceiling tile.
When all the work is done with the ceiling then the painters will come back and paint the walls. We expect a couple of weeks for this to get done to this point. Susan didn’t mention the floor this time so we will wait to hear about that later.
We will keep you posted on the progress, in the mean time we will still be meeting with United Church of God in Nixa at the Nixa Senior Citizens Center for Services at 12:30 pm each Sabbath and for the Day of Atonement at 1:00 pm at the American Legion Hall.
We had an enjoyable combined Feast of Trumpets Services with United Church of God. “How good and how pleasant it is for Brethren to dwell together in Unity.”
We will be meeting with United Church of God in Nixa until the remodel of our Hall is complete. We expect the remodel won’t be done until we get back from the Feast but we will keep you posted.
So far the ceiling tiles have all been taken down and I think they replaced the grids where the skylights were and now they are ready for the painters to come in this week and paint the ceiling grids and walls. Once that is complete they will install the new ceiling tile and then start on the floors.

Afternoon: 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM

Directions: Take South Campbell to Nixa which turns into Massey Blvd. Turn left on W Northview Road and then right on McCroskey St. and the American Legion is on the right side.

Are you so focused on your failures, missed opportunities, mistakes, trials, etc… that you miss God’s beauty? Do you overlook the blessings that you already have because they don’t match the “pictures of success” in your mind? If yes, then you are looking at the wrong things. You are listening to the deceiver who doesn’t want you to be joyful, hopeful, and faithful. And what does the Lord require of you
Except to be just, and to love [and to diligently practice] kindness (compassion),
And to walk humbly with your God [setting aside any overblown sense of importance or self-righteousness] (Micah 6:8, Amplified).
Am I the only one that finds it hard to “walk” humbly with God when you don’t know the direction you are going? I know that life has many curves and ups and downs, but it is so hard sometimes to try not to force or fix situations. Continue reading
