Pastor’s Update
Greetings to everyone! I hope this finds everyone in good health and good Spirit!
Today the City of Springfield and Greene County both started the process to get businesses back open but Churches are still restricted until the end of May!
So no services in the near future! If we owned our own building this might be a different issue but since we rent a building that is used by labor workers, we have no idea if they are sanitizing anything when they use the building or have they even been using the building. We have no idea who has been in the space or why they might have been there so we will need to error on the safe side.
I had a phone call with Wynn Skelton from Tyler regarding what to do this Fall for the FOT. Since neither of us can see what is down the road, we have to wait to make plans for signing contracts for the FOT. This has risk as someone might decide to take a day or two right in the middle of the days that we need for the FOT. Should that happen, we think we might have to hold local FOT services in some areas.
We also have some concern that much of our older members, that would be most of us as well, might have some reservations about going to the Feast and being in larger crowds. That is understandable and for those who are still working and depend on Tithe money to go to the Feast, they may find themselves short of funds this year due to layoffs.
So as you can see, Feast Coordinators have a lot of things to consider. Imagine renting a hall for $9,000 and expecting 130 to 150 members and only 50 of them shows up due to this pandemic.
Aren’t you glad you don’t have to make those decisions?
I’m hoping that this will soon be behind us and we can start meeting again. We do miss everyone and are tying to keep in touch as best we can. Not everyone has Email so texting letters is not really an option but that means some are not in the loop as to what is going on. We also post this letter on the website for the Springfield Church Congregation at CGISpringfield under Pastor’s Update.
I wish I had more interesting things to share but that is all I have for this week.
Stay safe,
David Campbell, Pastor CGI
