Once Saved, Always Saved

Video

At one of our national evangelistic campaigns in the United States a gentleman stood up during the Question and Answer segment and explained he firmly believed that once you accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, you cannot lose your salvation—once saved, always saved—no matter what, was what he believed. Sabbath Services

Aside

Sabbath Services for this Sabbath August 29th will be cancelled due to people traveling or visiting other congregations.

Also, please note there will be NO POTLUCK on the first Sabbath of September which is the 5th because the Feast of Trumpets will be on the 14th.  We will have Potluck on Trumpets instead. We will let you know what we plan to have for the main dishes when we get closer to that date.

Have a Happy Sabbath and we will see you again on the 5th.

Is The Dollar At Risk?

Many are concerned a “storm” is coming! Off in the distance, what sounds like thunder can be heard, or maybe it’s the “hoof-beats” of approaching “horses”––but some are predicting the conditions of a “perfect storm” might be developing that could lead to an economic collapse of global proportions before the year of 2015 ends––should we be concerned?

Can this be true?

People in the financial community as well as some voices from religious circles are heralding there are “buds on the fig tree” that warn of major calamities coming our way, here in North America, and throughout the rest of the world.

Some of these specific “buds on the fig tree” are as follows. Presently, some believe we are in a Shemitah year––a Jubilee year of debt release. Consider, 2001 was a Shemitah year––the stock market fell over 650 points, right after 9/11 occurred, on September 17th––the Feast of Trumpets. Seven years later—2008—was another Shemitah year, and the stock market fell over 750 points on September 29th; and again on the Feast of Trumpets. Now, in 2015, which is the third Shemitah year in the 21st century, and the coming Feast of Trumpets is September 14th––so, what do you think?

Additionally, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the first time is considering allowing China’s currency––the Yuan––to be recognized as a legitimate denomination for determining the value for the IMF’s Special Drawing Right, which is an international reserve asset, created by the IMF in 1969 to supplement its member countries official monetary reserves. Presently, its value is determined by averaging out the Yen, Sterling, Euro, and US Dollar. However, China is now being considered for inclusion into this very elite monetary circle.

Many are worried this has implications of replacing the US Dollar as the worlds standard reserve currency! Is this possible? And if it is, what does it mean for those of us in North America and the rest of the world? Some are thinking it will send hundreds of billions of dollars moving around the world, triggering one of the most profound transfers of wealth in our lifetime. Is that what’s behind the IMF’s October meeting? Take a moment to watch our most recent Biblical News Update & Commentary on “Is The Dollar At Risk?” for some of these answers.

Charles Groce Retirement

Charles+Groce

June 29, 2015

On June 27, 2015, Charles Groce, Chief Executive Officer of the Church of God International (CGI) and Chairman of the CGI Board of Directors, announced his retirement. Over his 32 years of service in the CGI, Mr. Groce has served in a variety of capacities. Vice Chairman Vance Stinson was confirmed by the Board of Directors as Chairman of the Board. Also, Jeff Reed will be pastor of the Tyler congregation.

Mr. Groce’s term on the Board was up for renewal, and he asked the Board not to renew that term. The Board honored his request and accepted his retirement. Mr. Stinson and others acknowledge that Mr. Groce has been talking about retiring for some time.

Mr. Groce was asked if personal illness was a part of his decision. He assured everyone that he is in good health, adding that after 44 years of serving in the ministry, it was “just time to retire.” All were assured that there is no pending personal scandal, and that he was not forced out of office.

Mr. Groce stated he wanted to retire while CGI is in good shape—leaving the ministry in a good position. While acknowledging there is still need for improvement in CGI, he said that the membership and income are up at this time. Programs are expanding, and new people are being baptized.

Though we are saddened by this announcement, Charles illustrates a good example of retiring from his responsibilities with integrity and character. His service will be greatly missed.

We will always be grateful for Mr. Groce’s emphasis on servant leadership and the core values set forth in Matthew 5, 6, and 7—the Sermon on the Mount.

Mr. Groce said he will continue to attend the CGI congregation in Tyler as a member who continues to support the mission of CGI.
